Fold and Flow - create an abstract concertina sketchbook

Fold and Flow workshop will introduce you to the joys of freely playing with a variety of materials and mark-making tools, culminating in the creation of your own abstract folded concertina sketchbook ready to display. This workshop is suitable for everyone - from complete beginners to experienced artists keen to explore loose abstract techniques.

All materials are provided; all you need to bring is an inquisitive mind and a ‘let’s try’ attitude! Workshops are friendly and relaxed, with plenty of support offered along the way.

Botanical Gelprinting

Use a gelplate, paint and a variety of leaves and flowers to create your own unique prints to frame, add to cards, or use in collage.  This workshop is suitable for everyone - from complete beginners to experienced artists keen to explore botanical gelprinting. By exploring various techniques using plant materials we will start with basic single prints, and progress to more complex layered prints which can either be enhanced using detailing or framed for display.

All materials are provided; all you need to bring is an inquisitive mind and a ‘let’s try’ attitude! Workshops are friendly and relaxed, with plenty of support offered along the way.

Finding your Flow

 This is a workshop designed to introduce the concepts of painting with expression, emotion and freedom with no pressure to produce a realistic image, whilst still considering composition and contrast within your painting. We will start on a large piece of paper, and build up layers of abstract mark-making and paint with freedom to explore colour and form without the constraints of representational painting. This will then be cropped into a number of smaller pieces which can be worked on separately , with the end result being a series of smaller works to take home. 

All materials, paints and mark-making tools will be provided and participants are free to bring along any favourite tools and materials if they wish.

Paper, Play and Possibility

Curious about abstract art but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly workshop invites you to explore the exciting world of abstract collage using paper, paint, and layered textures. The workshop is also suitable for more experienced artists wishing to expand their range of skills with collage techniques.

You’ll learn how to combine torn papers, found materials, and acrylic paint to create expressive, contemporary artwork. Composition, colour relationships, texture, and intuitive mark-making will be explored in a friendly, supportive, relaxed environment.

No drawing skills required. No experience necessary. Just a willingness to experiment and play.

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own finished mixed-media artwork and the confidence to continue exploring abstraction on your own.

All materials provided, although feel free to bring any favourite paints and mark-making tools with you.

Introduction to Abstract Collage

During the Abstract Collage workshop you will create a group of three small abstract collages whilst learning about colour, composition and texture.

No drawing skills required. No experience necessary. Just a willingness to experiment and play.

This workshop is suitable for all  - whether totally new to all things arty, or a more experienced artist keen to try a different creative approach.  You will leave the workshop with a triptych of collages, framed and ready to display at home. 

All materials are provided on the day, including a frame for your artworks and a selection of papers to take away with you. The workshops are friendly, relaxed and a great way of zoning out for an afternoon, playing with paper and glue! Small group sizes mean maximum support and guidance throughout. Come along and have some fun!

Brave New Brushstrokes

Spend the day creating an abstract painting - learn to let go, be brave and paint outside the lines!  This is a workshop designed to encourage painting with expression, emotion and freedom with no pressure to produce a realistic image, whilst still considering composition and contrast within your painting.  We will start with a blank board and build up layers of abstract markmaking and paint to create an abstract artwork, with freedom to explore colour and form without the constraints of representational painting. The secret is to be brave!

All materials including a prepared cradleboard, paints and mark-making tools will be provided and participants are free to bring along any favourite tools and materials if they wish.
